My name is John Forbes and I first became involved in the Insurance industry in 1981 with the Prudential and after 5 years took the decision to set up my own Insurance Partnership, namely Forbes Palmer Insurance and operated out of North Hykeham for approximately 20 years. We moved office due to a growing client bank firstly to the Forum and lastly to our offices on Lincoln Road, North Hykeham. Our client bank was largely based in Lincoln and the surrounding areas although we had clients throughout the UK.
Born and bred in Lincoln I have made a vast number of contacts over the years be it professional contacts, business clients or simply friendships which form the backbone of my activities in the area. I am happy to service that group of people and I look to assist new claimants by handling your contact in the professional manner you would seek at such a difficult time, bringing to bear my 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, in successfully negotiating your claim.
I have been helping people secure successful property insurance claims on behalf of Aspray since 2013 predominantly in Lincolnshire but also on occasion further afield when demand dictates as Aspray covers the whole of the UK.
Our properties are normally our biggest asset and therefore the shock and stress that goes with accepting your property has suffered damage, will impact on you and may cause you concern. At that time, you need to ask yourself whether you have the time to manage the claim or do you use the services of an award-winning Loss Assessor, namely Aspray? Aspray are market-leaders in this sector and have been handling claims, on behalf of policyholders, since 2005. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, which means we always treat customers fairly.
Are you comfortable in discussing your claim with Insurers, Loss Adjusters & Contractors?
Do you know what your policy covers you for?
Do you know good reliable Contractors?
How will you find the time to carry out the meetings and negotiations with all of the above?
These are some of the reasons why so many people use the Aspray service so please feel free to make contact. This can be a really stressful time and a real burden on work/life demands ‘so why not let us get on with your claim whilst you get on with your life’.
During my formative years with Aspray I have assisted property owners with claims on their properties covering a vast array of damage including Fire, Storm, Impact, Escape of Water, Accidental Damage and also Third-Party Claims. Whilst we would prefer to be involved from the outset of the claim we are frequently asked to assist when clients have gone to Insurers directly and find their claim is not progressing or has been repudiated. I have been involved with many claims that have subsequently been accepted due to our professional approach and ability to negotiate on the claimant’s behalf.
During the years bringing up an expanding family, culminating in 4 sons, I also took on the role of overseeing the building of our family home which introduced me to the Building and Allied Trades and the trials and tribulations of managing the project whilst still running my business and all the family commitments on a day to day basis. This proved very useful when we decided to erect 24 apartments on the site of our last office as this required a vast amount of time and planning.
I have a great set of fully vetted contractors who carry out all our reinstatement works and they take a great deal of pride in their work, which is something I demand on every claim. The Contractors also provide a guarantee of their workmanship, thus providing peace of mind on completion.
My involvement in your claim comes at no cost to you, however, you are responsible for your policy excess which your Insurer will confirm to you at the time of your claim.
Water damage is one of the most common causes of residential or commercial buildings insurance claims. A leaky or frozen pipe can sometimes lead to extensive, and sometimes expensive, damage to your property and its contents.
If you experience water damage, Aspray could help by negotiating with your insurance company or their loss adjuster, drying out your property if necessary and instructing vetted contractors to complete reinstatement works.
Suffering a fire in your residential or commercial property can be destressing and the damage caused can, in some cases, be catastrophic. Aspray could help restore your home or business to its pre-loss condition, providing a helping hand when you may need it most.
Where applicable, if your residential property is damaged an Aspray loss assessor will arrange temporary accommodation for yourself and your family should you be unable to remain in your property while repairs are carried out.
Adverse weather conditions are out of your control and a severe storm can cause damage to various aspects of your residential or commercial property. High winds, heavy rain, hail and snow can all potentially cause harmful effects to your home or business, from broken roof tiles to an uprooted tree landing on your house or business.
Damage caused by a storm can take many forms however, our project managers are experienced at reinstating properties that have been affected by extreme weather conditions.
Extreme floods have been prominent across the UK over the past few years, with home and business owners suffering extensive damage, leaving them without a habitable property for extended periods of time.
If your property has been flooded, Aspray (Lincoln) could, were applicable, arrange temporary accommodation and begin organising the cleaning and stripping of fixtures, fittings and furnishings that have been damaged because of the flood.
Predominately caused by a vehicle colliding with your residential or commercial property or boundary, the physical damage of impact can be big enough and Aspray (Lincoln) understand that the emotional impact could be even greater. The property owner can usually recover the cost of the damage under their own policy and then your insurances can often pursue a recovery of costs against the offending motorist.

Our most frequently asked question - What is the difference between a Loss Assessor and a Loss Adjuster?
A loss assessor works in the best interests of the policyholder. Sometimes known as a public loss adjuster, a loss assessor manages property damage insurance claims on behalf of the policyholder, working towards achieving a fair settlement from the insurance company.
In 2005, it became a legal requirement for all loss assessors to be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to ensure that insurance claim management meets specific standards. Aspray Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and can be found on the FCA Register.
An Aspray loss assessor goes beyond simply negotiating and agreeing your claim with the insurer, they also project manage all repair works, reinstating your property to its pre-loss condition as swiftly as possible.
A loss adjuster is appointed on behalf of the insurance company. When instructed by an insurance company, a loss adjuster will assess the damage to your property and, if they deem the damage liable under your insurance policy, will work with your insurance company to provide settlement figure. Loss adjusters are often appointed when the claim is of a significant size and will visit your property to determine the cause of damage.
Any loss adjuster appointed will be paid directly by your insurance provider, therefore, many claimants worry that they may not receive an impartial assessment. This is where a claimant may decide to appoint a loss assessor who will aim look after their interests.
Instructing Aspray (Lincoln) will provide you with a dedicated and experienced loss assessor who will put your interests first.
