In April 2018, after British Gas fixed a broken pump on my boiler, I came home from work to find a leak had devastated my house. My lounge ceiling had fallen down and the downstairs part of my house was completely wrecked.
Unbeknown to me the engineer was in fact a subcontractor and instead of dealing with British Gas I was left to deal with the subcontractor’s insurance company. The insurance company could not have been more unhelpful if they tried so, in a state of panic and having never been in this situation before, and not having a DIY SOS team on speed dial, a colleague suggested I contact Colin Felton.
This was the best recommendation I have ever had in my life! Colin immediately took charge of the situation, suddenly after weeks of nothing, I had a loss adjuster round to assess the damage, the insurance company admitted liability and when the insurance company tried to brush over the damage, Colin worked tirelessly to ensure that my house was restored without compromise to the warm safe haven I had previously had.
Colin not only dealt professionally with the insurance company, sorted out all the quotes, and dealt with the paperwork, but had my house fixed, providing me with contractors who knew exactly what they were doing! Even with the insurance company delays, by the end of July everything had been completed and I was able to start getting back to a normal life.
Colin kept me updated even when he was on holiday, personally checking that the work was of a high standard. It was like a guardian angel had stepped in to rescue the day and it didn’t cost me a penny!
I am now the new owner of the Liverpool Aspray territory, after successfully co-running the Central Manchester area over the last 12 months. Within my career, I have managed numerous property claims within many of the major UK flooding events that took place in Hull 2007, Aberdeen 2008, Carlisle/Cockermouth 2009 and Cumbria 2015.
Over the years, I have built up very good relationships with senior loss adjusters, insurance managers, and building companies. My wealth of knowledge, enables the customer to be confident that the person who is dealing with their claim, is skilled in the field of disaster restoration, being accredited as a Senior Technician with the British Damage Management Association (BDMA), and have sat on many panels to offer solutions for insurance companies regarding value for money claims, fraud and treating the customer fairly.
Over the years I have managed all types of property claims from small to high value (upwards of £500,000) whilst working with chartered surveyors, building control and English Heritage, to successfully complete and restore all types of property including business premises, as a result of fire, flood, escape of water, criminal and accidental damage.
I have a hands-on approach to managing claims, working on site to manage the different contractors involved and ensure the customer is up to date with progress. I firmly believe that common sense and experience will always win the day. Due to my extensive contact base, any problems that may arise can be dealt with by a phone call, rather than becoming a long drawn-out issue.

Our most frequently asked question - What is the difference between a Loss Assessor and a Loss Adjuster?
A loss assessor works in the best interests of the policyholder. Sometimes known as a public loss adjuster, a loss assessor manages property damage insurance claims on behalf of the policyholder, working towards achieving a fair settlement from the insurance company.
In 2005, it became a legal requirement for all loss assessors to be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to ensure that insurance claim management meets specific standards. Aspray Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and can be found on the FCA Register.
An Aspray loss assessor goes beyond simply negotiating and agreeing your claim with the insurer, they also project manage all repair works, reinstating your property to its pre-loss condition as swiftly as possible.
A loss adjuster is appointed on behalf of the insurance company. When instructed by an insurance company, a loss adjuster will assess the damage to your property and, if they deem the damage liable under your insurance policy, will work with your insurance company to provide settlement figure. Loss adjusters are often appointed when the claim is of a significant size and will visit your property to determine the cause of damage.
Any loss adjuster appointed will be paid directly by your insurance provider, therefore, many claimants worry that they may not receive an impartial assessment. This is where a claimant may decide to appoint a loss assessor who will aim look after their interests.
