Phil Bray is now one of the longest serving Aspray franchisees, having joined 10 years ago. During that time, he has seen the rapid growth, both of his franchise and Aspray, and has gained invaluable experience, which he enjoys passing on to new franchisees. In the interests of policyholders, Phil always advises colleagues to work closely with Loss Adjusters, from the outset of a claim, so as to ensure, where possible, the fairest possible settlement is authorised by the insurer, to reduce the time taken to process the claim.
He is proud to say that he was ‘Franchisee of the Year’ in 2013 and runner up in 2014. However, his proudest award is being voted ‘Franchisees Franchisee of the Year’, also in 2014.
Phil likes to think he is very much a people person and enjoys being able to help his customers by removing the stress caused by damage being sustained to their property. At the initial meeting, he understands that generally the customer is looking for someone to take control of the situation and for the claim to proceed as quickly as possible and in an orderly fashion. He has to earn that trust and to do so he ensures he keeps customers regularly up to date with the progress of the reinstatement works. He gives them confidence that he is in complete control of the claim and makes sure their needs are paramount when negotiating with the Loss Adjuster. Our most frequently asked question - What is the difference between a Loss Assessor and a Loss Adjuster?
A loss assessor works in the best interests of the policyholder. Sometimes known as a public loss adjuster, a loss assessor manages property damage insurance claims on behalf of the policyholder, working towards achieving a fair settlement from the insurance company.
In 2005, it became a legal requirement for all loss assessors to be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to ensure that insurance claim management meets specific standards. Aspray Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and can be found on the FCA Register.
An Aspray loss assessor goes beyond simply negotiating and agreeing your claim with the insurer, they also project manage all repair works, reinstating your property to its pre-loss condition as swiftly as possible.
A loss adjuster is appointed on behalf of the insurance company. When instructed by an insurance company, a loss adjuster will assess the damage to your property and, if they deem the damage liable under your insurance policy, will work with your insurance company to provide settlement figure. Loss adjusters are often appointed when the claim is of a significant size and will visit your property to determine the cause of damage.
Any loss adjuster appointed will be paid directly by your insurance provider, therefore, many claimants worry that they may not receive an impartial assessment. This is where a claimant may decide to appoint a loss assessor who will aim look after their interests.
