FAQ's

Can Aspray help with my property insurance claim?

Yes. Aspray can help policyholders with insured property damage claims affecting homes, rental properties, commercial premises, and other insured buildings. This can include damage caused by events such as escape of water, fire, flood, storm, impact, accidental damage, and other insured perils.

What does Aspray’s service cost?

There is no charge for Aspray’s loss assessing service, provided you appoint Aspray to carry out the approved reinstatement works using our vetted contractors. You will still need to pay any policy excess, and VAT may apply depending on your circumstances.

What should I do after discovering property damage?

Yes, the excess stated within the policy will still apply.

If you discover damage at your property, try to stop the damage from getting worse if it is safe to do so. For example, turn off the water after a leak or arrange emergency help if the property is unsafe.

Take photos or videos of the damage, keep any damaged items where possible, and make a note of what happened. You should also notify your insurer promptly, as most policies require this. You can contact Aspray before, during, or after speaking to your insurer so we can guide you through the next steps.

Why use Aspray to help with my insurance claim?

A property insurance claim can be stressful, time-consuming, and difficult to manage alone. Aspray can assess the damage, prepare the scope of works, deal with the insurer and loss adjuster, and organise vetted contractors to complete the approved reinstatement works.

This gives you a dedicated point of contact throughout the claim.

Do I need Aspray if my insurer has appointed a loss adjuster?

An insurer’s loss adjuster acts on behalf of the insurance company. Aspray acts on behalf of you, the policyholder.

We assess the damage, prepare the claim, negotiate with your insurer, and manage the reinstatement works once agreed.

Do you handle the insurance company directly?

Yes. Once appointed, Aspray can deal with the insurance company, loss adjuster, surveyors, and contractors on your behalf. We manage the claim, prepare the scope of works, and help move the process forward.

Can Aspray manage contractors and repairs?

Yes. Once the claim is agreed, Aspray can project manage the reinstatement works using our vetted contractor network. This gives you one point of contact and helps keep the repair process organised.

Can Aspray help if my claim has been rejected?

Yes. Aspray can review repudiated claims at no cost and advise whether the insurer’s decision can be challenged. Where we can assist, we can help gather evidence and present the claim again.

Can Aspray help if the property is still occupied?

Yes. If it is safe and practical for the property to remain occupied, Aspray can help plan the reinstatement works with this in mind.

If the property is uninhabitable or cannot be used safely, we can help review whether your policy includes cover for alternative accommodation, loss of rent, business interruption, or other related costs, depending on your policy.

Can I use Aspray if I do not live near the property?

Yes. Aspray can support policyholders who live away from the damaged property, including landlords, business owners, and homeowners with more than one property.

Your local Loss Assessor can assess the damage, liaise with your insurer, and manage the approved repairs.

Can Aspray help if my property cannot be used during repairs?

If the damage affects your ability to live in, rent out, or use the property, your policy may include cover for alternative accommodation, loss of rent, business interruption, stock, contents, or alternative premises.

Aspray can help review the policy position and support the relevant parts of the claim where cover applies.

How long will my property insurance claim take?

The length of a property insurance claim depends on the type of damage, the extent of the works, insurer response times, and whether specialist reports are needed.

A smaller claim may move quickly, while complex fire, flood, storm, or escape of water claims can take longer, especially where drying, surveys, or detailed scopes of work are required.

Do I still need to pay my excess if I appoint Aspray?

Yes. The excess stated in your policy still applies.

Your excess is the amount you agree to pay towards the claim before your insurer contributes. The amount should be shown in your policy schedule. Once the final settlement has been agreed with your insurer, your Aspray Loss Assessor will arrange collection of the excess payment.

Who can Aspray assist?

Aspray can assist property owners making a claim under their buildings insurance policy. This includes homeowners, landlords, business owners, and other policyholders with insured property damage.
