Getting a property back to its original condition after impact damage can involve more than repairing the visible damage. A collision or falling object can affect walls, roofs, windows, doors, boundary walls, garages, outbuildings, fixtures, and the structural integrity of the property.
Your Aspray Loss Assessor can help assess the damage, prepare a detailed scope of works, and manage the insurance claim on your behalf. Where needed, we can also help arrange reports from third-party specialists, such as structural engineers or chartered surveyors, to support the claim.
If the property cannot be lived in, rented out, or used safely, your policy may include cover for alternative accommodation, loss of rent, business interruption, or other related costs. Where cover applies, Aspray can help support these parts of the claim.

Aspray (Sunderland) managed the reinstatement of a to-let property after an HGV crashed into the front of the home, leaving it uninhabitable.
Impact FAQs
I need to make an impact damage claim. What should I do?
Contact your insurer to notify them of the damage, then contact Aspray as soon as possible. You can also speak to Aspray first if you are unsure how to begin.
Your Loss Assessor can help you understand what information you need, assess the damage, prepare the claim, and guide the process from the first inspection through to completed reinstatement works.
Call 0800 077 6705 to speak to the Aspray team.
How much does Aspray cost?
Aspray’s loss assessing service is free to the policyholder, provided you appoint Aspray to carry out the approved reinstatement works using our vetted contractors.
You will still need to pay any policy excess. If you are VAT registered, you may also be responsible for paying VAT on the settlement, which you may then be able to reclaim from HMRC.
Do I still need to pay my excess if I appoint Aspray?
Yes. The excess stated in your policy still applies.
Your excess is the amount you agree to pay towards the claim before your insurer contributes. The amount should be shown in your policy schedule. Once the final settlement has been agreed with your insurer, your Aspray Loss Assessor will arrange collection of the excess payment.
Who can Aspray assist with impact damage claims?
Aspray can assist property owners making a claim under their buildings insurance policy. This includes homeowners, landlords, and business owners.
If your property has suffered storm damage and you want help managing the claim, call Aspray on 0800 077 6705. Your local Loss Assessor can inspect the damage, help validate the claim, and liaise with your insurer.
Why might I need a structural report after impact damage?
Impact damage can affect more than the visible area. A vehicle collision, fallen tree, or falling debris may damage walls, foundations, adjoining structures, services, floors, roofs, or internal finishes.
A structural report may be needed to confirm whether the property is safe and what repairs are required. Aspray can help arrange reports from third-party specialists, such as structural engineers or chartered surveyors, where needed, and use this evidence to support the claim.
