Help, I’ve found property damage. What should I do?
If you have found damage to your property, try to stop the damage getting worse if it is safe to do so. For example, turn off the water after a leak or arrange emergency help if the property is unsafe. Take photos or videos of the damage, keep any damaged items where possible, and make a note of what happened.
You should notify your insurer promptly, as most policies require this. You can also contact Aspray straight away, either before or at the same time as speaking to your insurer, so we can guide you through the next steps and help manage the claim.
Why use Aspray to help with my home insurance claim?
A property insurance claim can be stressful, time-consuming, and difficult to manage alone. Aspray can assess the damage, prepare the scope of works, deal with the insurer and loss adjuster, and organise vetted contractors to complete the approved reinstatement works. This gives you a dedicated point of contact throughout the claim.
How much does the Aspray service cost?
Aspray’s service is free to the policyholder when we use our vetted contractors to complete the approved reinstatement works. You will still need to pay your policy excess, as this is part of your insurance policy. If you are a VAT registered company or individual, please be aware you are responsible for paying the VAT of the settlement, however, you can claim this from HMRC on your next VAT return.
Do you handle the insurance company directly?
Yes. Once appointed, Aspray can deal with the insurance company, loss adjuster, surveyors, and contractors on your behalf. We manage the claim, prepare the scope of works, and help move the process forward.
How long will my home insurance claim take?
The length of a home insurance claim depends on the type of damage, the extent of the works, insurer response times, and whether specialist reports are needed. A small claim may move quickly, while complex fire, flood, storm, or escape of water claims can take longer, especially where drying, surveys, or detailed scopes of work are required.
