We assess the water damage and start your claim
Your Loss Assessor will assess the water damage, record the affected areas, and prepare a detailed scope of works. They can also contact your insurer and help move the claim forward on your behalf.
We negotiate with your insurer
Aspray handles communication with your insurer, presents the evidence needed to support your claim, and negotiates the agreed works and settlement under the terms of your policy.
Vetted contractors reinstate your property
Once the claim is agreed, your Loss Assessor can instruct vetted contractors and project manage the reinstatement works through to completion.
Final inspection and sign-off
We inspect the completed works with you before final sign-off. The claim is complete when the agreed reinstatement works have been carried out and you are happy with the result.

Escape of Water FAQ

I need to make a claim for an escape of water. What should I do?

First, try to stop further damage. Turn off the water at the mains if it is safe to do so, and call an emergency plumber if needed.

You should notify your insurer that damage has occurred, as most policies require prompt reporting. You can contact Aspray at the same time, or just before you speak to your insurer, so we can guide you through the next steps.

How much does the Aspray service cost for escape of water claims?

Aspray’s loss assessing service is free to the policyholder, provided you appoint Aspray to carry out the approved reinstatement works using our vetted contractors.

You will still need to pay any policy excess. If you are VAT registered, you may also be responsible for paying VAT on the settlement, which you may then be able to reclaim from HMRC.

Do I still need to pay my excess if I appoint Aspray?

Yes. The excess stated in your policy still applies.

Your excess is the amount you agree to pay towards the claim before your insurer contributes. The amount should be shown in your policy schedule. Once the final settlement has been agreed with your insurer, your Aspray Loss Assessor will arrange collection of the excess payment.

Who can Aspray assist with water damage claims?

An insurer’s loss adjuster acts on behalf of the insurance company. Aspray acts on behalf of you, the policyholder.

Your Loss Assessor can assess the damage, prepare the claim, deal with insurer communication, negotiate the settlement, and manage the reinstatement works once agreed.

How long will my Escape of Water claim take?

The length of the claim depends on the cause of the leak, the extent of the damage, the drying process, insurer response times, and the repairs needed.
