Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs) responded to 23,008 home fires in England in the year ending March 2024, with over half (54%) — a total of 12,492 — attributed to domestic appliances. A devastating fire occurred at this property in Sheffield, whilst the tenants were out shopping. The fire started in a tumble dryer and quickly caused significant damage to the whole of this one bedroom flat.
